Our trailer Driving course which is based on a 22-wheeler truck includes training that will prepare you to participate in the cargo and transportation industry –  transporting heavy and oversized cargo, industrial goods, and other large loads over long distances.

It’s important to know and understand that the 22-wheeler trucks are heavy-weight commercial vehicles used in long-haul transportation of heavy and over-sized cargo and therefore, this trailer driving course is not designed for novice drivers.

You must be an experienced driver with at least 26 years, 3 years of driving experience before enrolling.

As a trailer driver, what will I do?

Precisely, you will drive trailers. However, you need to know that you major job entails transportation of Heavy and Oversized Cargo, industrial goods, transportation of 4-wheeler or 2-wheelers, heavy equipment transportation, long distance transportation of commercial goods and more.

What does the trailer driving training include?

During the 5 weeks you shall learn both theoretical and practical ways to handle trailers. You will gain a deep understanding of safety and legal requirements related to trailer training, user manual interpretation, coupling and uncoupling to ensure a secure connection, learn how to make Pre and post-operation checks to ensure the trailer is in optimal condition, Safe on-road driving, reversing and manoeuvring and more.

In summary, you will learn the following;

  • Trailer coupling and uncoupling
  • Driving with trailers in busy areas.
  • Right and left reversing.
  • Emergency breaking with and without loads.
  • Safe approach to inclines/slopes.
  • Navigations, overtaking and trailer parking.
  • Trailer safety tips and tricks to avoid accidents.

Safety:

Our trailer driving safety in Uganda focuses on proper coupling and uncoupling, load securing, speed control, defensive driving, brake management, and strict observance of road signs to prevent rollovers, jack-knifing, and accidents.

Operations:

You shall learn how to operate a trailer, gear select, smooth acceleration and brake, lane discipline, safe turning, reversing techniques, weight distribution awareness, and efficient long-distance driving on highways and construction routes.

Site Preparation and Handling:

During site preparation and handling you shall learn to inspect parking surfaces, ensuring enough turning and reversing space, coordinating with spotters, assessing ground stability, and maneuvering trailers safely in yards, loading bays, and work sites.

Basic Maintenance and Repair:

You shall learn how to daily vehicle checks, tire pressure monitoring, brake inspection, lighting system checks, coupling lubrication, minor adjustments, and early detection of mechanical faults.
